October 9, 2006 (Los Angeles) Elizabeth M. Mason is pleased to introduce Japanese fashion designer Fukuko Ando to the North American markets on Friday, October 13th at The Paper Bag Princess in Beverly Hills.

Ms. Ando was born in Japan and moved to Paris after graduating from Nagoya School of Fashion in Japan, completing her post-graduate studies at The Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne.

Ms. Ando has had the privilege of collaborating with The House of Dior, as well as most recently Christian Locroix. Her work is deeply inspired by the early work of Madeleine Vionnet, as well as classical Greek sculpture, and these influences are subtly evident in the fluid drape and sinuous forms in Andos’ work today.

Using a wooden mannequin and guided by the reverse reflection in a mirror Ando discovers the body shape and listens to the material as she manipulates the fabric to create an organic and harmonious form following that of human tissues, every stitch placed by her discerning artist’s eye as it translates through her fingertips into delicate hand-stitches.

Ms. Mason’s discovery of Ando was a chance meeting in Paris 2005 where the two creative spirits united in the vision of bringing Ando’s lovely, ethereal draped collection of gowns and cocktail creations worthy of a Red Carpet appearance to Mason’s clients at The Paper Bag Princess, Beverly Hills.
